Comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Bar very expensive---over £10.00 for 2 coffees!
The Rubens location, service, food, helpfulness were all excellent! my only gripe is that the room was really small, so much so that we had to constantly move items of furniture in order to move around the room.
It added to a wonderful experience. The bar was a little expensive if I had to find fault . The staff were helpful and polite.
great hotel, good location, friendly staff, no faults to be found
This is a quality hotel, staff strive to provide excellent service. The rooms are lovely. It`s pricey but i`ve stayed in a couple of ridiculously expensive hotels in London and this one almost matches up. If i had a gripe then i would say the tea/coffee tray could have been better stocked, but if i`d asked i don`t doubt reception would have sorted it out quickly. The location is fabulous, a stones throw from victoria. Would definately recommend.
It was a joy to stay there
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the restaurant food at breakfast and in the evening in the carvery was good and the staff attended to our needs. The reception staff were extremely helpful. However, the bar service was EXTREMELY slow. The bar food when it came was very fresh and we enjoyed the food. However, we had ordered a taxi for two hours after the time of first ordering bar food. We thought this was ample time but we almost had to leave without some of our food. Two young children in our lunch time party, aged four and two, had to wait forty five minutes for ice cream to be served and became rather restless.Slow service in the bar is our only complaint and we will be happy to stay at the Rubens on another occasion but we may have lunch elsewhere! Very convenient for the Investiture event at Buckingham Palace that we were attending.
Location perfect, all staff helpful and friendly
Would recommend to friends.
Smoking room, thank you but no ashtray supplied! Dinner at 18.40 but had run out of beef very little left in regard to portions of lamb and pork, one slice hardly good value! Saw the afternoon tea wow! wish I had had time to indulge. Thank you for a very comfortable stay.
Definately be recommending and re visiting this hotel in the future. Near Victoria station which was ideal for us for arriving and transporting around London. Staff were so helpful as it was our first time in London, breakfast was delicious as was carvery dinner. Room was not our taste (very flowery !) but decorated to high quality standard and had loads of character with beautiful antique style furniture, very clean, excellent shower and bed although soft was very comfortable.
From the moment of arrival at Rubens it was obvious that we were about to experience a wonderful hotel with superb atmosphere and excellent staff. Everyone we came into contact with had the same focus on customer care. Nothing was too much trouble and the stay was exceptional. Usually I book different hotels but would definately return to this one. Thank you
Every aspect was excellent: food, room, personel. They could not do enough for us to help make our stay even better.
Have stayed in this hotel on three occasions. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very clean and in the rooms there is everything that you need.
We read many hotel reviews before choosing this hotel, but it was time well spent. We chose to book a superior king room because some reviews had said the rooms were small. Although the room was not spacious, it was well decorated, had all we needed and the bed was one of the most comfortable ever! We had one or two problems(TV and heating were two) but they were fixed very quickly after phoning reception. Without exception, the staff were terrific, smiling and helpful. Our first day we took taxis into central London at around £10 each way, but thereafter we used the tube which is only moments away. Had we not dined at Simpsons on the Strand the first night, we would have given the early theatre dinner full marks, but it was still very good (and good value) We never complain about prices in major cities, believing that if you want 4 or 5 star service, then you should expect to pay accordingly. We have already recommended the Rubens to some friends and will stay there again.
Staff - all very welcoming and attentive to our needs.Bedroom - on the small side. We opted for the superior kingsize room on this occasion, having spent two previous occasions in the classic double room. It must be noted that the only difference on this upgrade was the size of the bed - from double to king size. This in turn made the bedroom seem even smaller than before. That said, the room was cosy, well decorated in a traditional way, and in good order. On the downside the TV reception was not that great (but that really didn`t affect our stay) and the toiletries were ordinary. Breakfast - Fantastic. We had the English breakfast and it didn`t disappoint. Location - For us the location is suberb, being only a 5 minute walk from Victoria train / bus station. The hotel is minutes from Buckingham Palace and all major attractions can be easily reached.
Standard rooms quite small but well appointed, some internal noise later afternoon, external construction noise from 7am on Saturday. Excellent breakfast included and a friendly bar with sophisticated nibbles.
Amazing time the bed was huge and comfy enough that you sink right into it. The staff are helpfull and friendly any info on local events etc can be found out by asking the conciarge.
would recommend your hotel to any wanting a relaxing enjoyable break in london . the staff was so helpful, friendly and really made our break in london a wonderful experience .thank you
I`ve stayed in many hotels and this tops the lot. The room was great, well equipped and everything worked (I just remembered that more milks with the tea tray would have been appreciated). The breakfast room and service from the staff was superb. The gentlemen on the breakfast front desk gave excellent service. Ringing the bell for the chef to come out to cook an egg for me was a really nice touch. All the staff were patient, attentive and clearly there to make our short stay enjoyable. If I win the lottery, this is where I`d like to live! Well done and thanks. Happy New Year.
Very happy with our stay in Rubens at the Palace. A very convenient location (3 minutes walk from Victoria Station), a very comfortable bed and one of the finest breakfasts I`ve had in hotel in these parts. Maybe the room was a little on the small size (and mightn`t suit the larger people among us) but it posed no problem to us. Overall, very good indeed.
The location and dervice was exceptional however our first room offered was basicallly a single with a 3/4 bed for dwarfs, the second room we had to accept was a long thin room still very small but all we were offered. one night stay max we each had to wait for the other person to dress because of the lack of space.
It`s a loverly Hotel, good food, clean, nice feeling about the place in a great location. Will definately use again
We chose the Rubens after reading reviews on TripAdviser. We loved it! Our room was really big for London and the bed fantastic. Yes the floorboards squeaked but that all adds to its quaintness. Service was superb, nothing was too much trouble and breakfast was fantastic.; one of the best breakfasts we have ever had in a hotel.
An enjoyable and comfortable stay My wife and will be back again. Its not just thetop lineservice and comfortable clean rooms but the food in the buffet bar. We were not able to try the restaurant because we had booked for two evening shows. However I have been to many hotels in my time but can say (trivial that it may seem) that they provide the best breakfast sauage of the lot! The choice of food was nicely varied and waiter service and attention top line. My advice to anyone thinking of a London Hotel is try The Ruebens - bet you won`t find better! No I am not employed by the hotel - just a very happy customer.
From ARRIVAL TO DEPARTURE WE WERE MADE TO FEEL VERY SPECIAL, THE STAFF WERE SO COURTEOUS AND OBLIGING NOTHING TOO MUCH TROUBLE. CANNOT WAIT FOR A RETURN VISIT.
We have stayed in the Barclay and the Savoy and the Hilton and have to say although the corridors of the Rubens need brightning up , we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were among the nicest we have come across, they were efficient and friendly. We ate in the Bar,Library and the carvery. We had an the pre theatre meal in the carvery and it was our least favourite as the food was probably kept warm a little too long, making it look dried out and it tasted so, gravy was tastless. Once again the staff were extrememly good and overall it did not spoil our stay. We would definately return to the Rubens.
The suite was equipped in the bathroom for three but the liquid refreshment arrangements were for two
Hotel is a great location not far from victoria station. Excellent hotel, bedrooms well equiped, but a bit on the small side. Best full english we`ve had to date. The staff are so friendly and helpful, we are definately coming back with the children this time. Well done The Rubens keep up the good work you all do.Once again a big thankyou from the both of us.
