Just a quick stay. Service slow. Concierge missing when needed. No phone answer when ringing house keeping and worst of all shower not working which is exactly what we wanted and why we stayed in town centre. Needs to improve a lot
The single room was adequate but NO view from the window I felt closed in. A very nice bathroom.£170 with no breakfast for one night! I checked out at 7.30 am.Not good enough!!
Very classy modern hotel. Very helpful staff and well decorated rooms.
I have to admit that this has the most beautiful reception area I have ever seen. Wonderful hotel!
decent middle of the road hotel. Excellent location
The room was quite cold and took me a while to work out how to adjust the heating. The room service food was very good but expensive - was not sure how to not pay the optional service charge added. Also found that there was a constant hum from outside - the room faced on to the inner quadrangle so maybe the main heating/air conditioning outlet was in the quadrangle. Check in/check out was very slow - not all of the desks had staff - so had to queue for sometime. Overall the hotel was comfortable and food was good.
Lovely hotel, upgraded when we got there which was lovely. Could not fault it
The lobby is very dark, empty, soulless and quite depressing. The location is excellent. The rooms are OK although a bit small. I ordered room service and none of the dishes was really very good. The pepperoni pizza I ordered for my son was disgusting - worse than the really cheap kiddies pizzas from the cheapest fast food place. It was stodgy and horrible. He couldn`t eat it at all and we had to go out to get him something else. When I checked out I asked whether I could have it removed from my bill but reception said I had to make any complaints with the Customer Service desk. Unfortunately there was no one at that desk, and although I waited for as long as I could until I had to leave, no one arrived there. So I wasn`t impressed with customer service either. It`s a pity because before Guoman got involved this was a really good hotel.
We got a good deal in this hotel and were really pleased with it. Location is excellent right beside Marble Arch underground. Room was lovely plenty of space with a fridge and good hairdrier. Very quiet too. Beds very comfortable.
Accomodation good and superb location,BUT breakfast was far too expensive for what it was, hence Rating "Good".
beds really comfortable, staff friendly, very clean.
The room was definitely not 4 star, Despite refurbishment there wee scuffed walls & paint and the shower screen was useless - made worse by the fact there was no heating.Very disappointment
PLUS - excellent location - on Oxford St and Tube Stn next door, room clean - First impression good with massive reception areaMINUS - Small Double room - 12 ft square, not warm - heating slow to warm up and noisy - so £90 room only gives it a lower ratingReception in middle of ;shift change` so all staff out of action for a few minutes.
V stressful experience. Booked twin room for parents who no longer live together (but are on good terms) as Christmas gift - only for them to be "upgraded" to a kingsize double. Disaster. Took hour to sort out when hotel manger finally appeared and he finally agreed to give them a family room which had two beds. Spoilt a lovely Christmas present and wasted a good part of their day and shopping time. Why can`t hotels give you the room type you book. It made an awkward situation very difficult. Very disapointing. Would not recommend this hotel again.
Obviously designed by a man - for men. Bathroom basins more like dentists spitoons! No drawer space and very little wardrobe room, towel rails high over toilet (ok for tall people). For all that it was comfortable and very clean.
Quick check in & out, room a bit small but overall very clean and modern and good value for money for central London.
We booked a double room and found the room to be on the small side as expected. Interiors were contemporary and beds comfortable but the hotel was soul less. Checking in and checking out took forever despite all counters being used. Maybe a new system is needed! We didnt have breakfast or dinner in the hotel so cant comment on that. The staff were efficient but again lacked genuine warmth or attention to detail. The lobby was very impressive with the modern collection of artwork but cold and grey. There were not enough towels for two people, but didnt complain about this as we found this out on the morning we were checking out and it probably would have taken forever to rectify. I would use this hotel again if I wanted to stay central and didnt expect friendly full of life service. would recommend Melia white or City Inn .as an alternative
Found room noisy through the night because of external air-con or extractor fans. Long queues on check-in annoying.Overall convenient hotel, room small but clean and well equipped
I was so looking forward to our stay over the weekend in London be it a little cold. The air conditioning was broken so no heat. Had to change rooms as the engineer couldnt fix it.Described as a luxury room, in my opinion it certainly wasnt. and at that price, it should have been. Small room, drafty windows when closed. Stayed in many hotels throughout the world for less and superior facilities.Staff were great, breakfast great but very expensive.
Very good value hotel, with a fantastic lobby and small but comfortable rooms. Ironing board in the room was also very handy! Only thing to spoil the stay was the fact that we were put into a smoking room! surprised that they still offer smoking rooms! breakfast was lovely but we had to queue for ages to be seated then again for the food - a bit like a school canteen!
The room was very comfortable and well designed. I found the staff were well trained in customer service and very polite. i look forward to staying with the Cumberland again
Good value and a welcoming hotel reception. The room was clean and modern and is conveneiently located next to Marble Arch tube station.
I booked this hotel for a romantic weekend away and thankfully it did not disappoint. The intial impression was outstanding, it was more like a contemporary art museum. The scent that greeted us was the very first thing I noticed. The hotel smelt fresh and welcoming. Overall, the staff were very helpful and more importantly, friendly and approachable. The room was perfectly adequate. It was both clean and presentable. The bed was soo comfortable.I will certainly visit again and will most definitely recommend it to my friends, in fact, I have done already! Thank you for making our stay a relaxing and memorable one.
Well placed for shopping, short tube ride to theatreland.
The person who checked us in Elis was unfriendly and did not seem to think it was necessary to explain why he was taking £50 from my card- apparently this isprior authorisation in case you order anything- I found that out at the end- considering the mini bar only had water in it, what I was meant to get with my £50 is a mystery. I wasn`t asked whether I would like a paper or told that I could add on breakfast- Elis could do with a lesson in Customer Service! The room was small but billed as deluxe and everything I touched resulted in a cloud of dust.Having said that, dinner at Gary Rhodes` restaurant was very enjoyable and it was worth it just for that but as a hotel alone, no thank you.
Exacty that we needed for a weekend away! Perfectly located 2 min walk from Oxford Street , and Marble Arch Tube Line! Staff very helpful (Apart from waking us up in the morning! But guessing thats usual!) We would Def use the hotel and services again at somepoint soon! Thank you!
Polite staff that were eager to help and give information about where to go and easy to follow directions. Fantastic
