Great location and view form room. Facilities basic and a bit tired but OK for a short stay. Staff helpful
The male person with grey curly hair and glasses cannot work with people and is bad advertisement for the first sight of your hotel. My daugthers whole body is covered with bite marks (room 106) Our room was not we expected. The third bed is very uncomfortable for an adult.
I was delighted with our room and it`s magnificent views of Princess Street Castle etc. Especially as it was 50 years to the day sinse we last stayed with you. Thank You. However I was VERY dissapointed to find a flight of stairs to the reception. As I have a breathing problem I found this quite distressing and although I had brought a wheelchair as my husband is not altogether strong we had to leave it in teh boot of our daughters car (who brought us to the hotel) This did not detract from the stay as my husband was able to get out and about and I stayed behind( quite happily after a busy day!)...However I really do think that disabled access is essential and shoudl be looked into qurgently or if not made a point of on your web site.
Service very poor. I asked for extra towels the first night twice and they were never sent. Had to ask again in the morning. Breakfast was not included and cost 11.30 pounds. No extra amenities.
Would certainly go back to this hotel.
From the minute we arrived to the time we left we felt we had been well looked after. First impressions - spotless, even coming in from a very busy and dusty street! All facilities of the highest standard. Service was friendly and informative. Would definitely return, and would recommend to everyone.
Would have liked a corner room at the front of hotel with excellent view of Castle.
Not as good as described in photos or on-line description, disappointed but okay for overnight stop - i will not be recommending it.
Our stay was short, but very good. Food was excellent and the staff were very, very polite and tended to our needs quickly and efficiently.
As always our stay was perfect, staff are polite and helpful, rooms very clean and well kept. Food is excellant as is the service.
The room & the service were fine. The dining room has stunning views & has lots of potential . However it is over formal uncomfortable cold & the food is tasteless. The good news is that there are lots of excellent restaurants very close
good hotel near to all attractions central hotel near castle
Fantastic location for amenities. Staff and service for 3 nights stay was excellent. Requested a front room for the sights over Princess St and Castle, and was given a front room. Would happily stay again and recomment this to anyone.
We found the hotel to be in a good location, the steps up from the entrance may be a problem for some people, but the staff were always willing to help with luggage etc. We were on the 6th floor, quiet room, with tea and coffee facilities. The lift is quite small and you can be waiting awhile for it. The breakfast was good and the staff lovely. I`d recommend the hotel to friends and family.
The best way to describe the Old Waverley is very disappointing, our room was more like a prison cell, whitewashed windows covered in bird poo, lights on mid afternoon with no idea as to what the weather was like outside. The one lift for 5 floors was used by the staff as we waited to go down the lift door opened and a staff member said "its only going up" and pressed the door close !!. At least the breakfast was good even if you had to ask for a pot of tea which wasn`t easy as the staff had developed the art of not making eye contact.
lovely room staff helpful great breakfast .all staff very nice
lovely hotel and service was good, the only drawback was the parking, the car park was a very long walk so i think recommendations to use park and ride if coming by car.
We stayed at this hotel on a short Break, and picked it because we travelled by train and it was only 2min walk from Waverley Station, and close to all amenites.Hotel was clean and tidy, staff was very helpful and food was good.Recomend this hotel to any body going on a short or longer Break to Edinburgh
nice clean room staff were friendly and helpful breakfast was superb didnt eat in the restaurant though hotel is in brilliant location for exploring good views of castle.
we had a family room and it was very spacious, the only letdown was a very cracked hand basin
Stayed for two nights. Spent first night in very stuffy room where window faced very narrow (3-5ft) triangular gap between buildings preventing fresh air and (as we found out in the morning) daylight to enter. However, on polite request were moved with no fuss to very nice room overlooking Princes Street Gardens which we enjoyed very much and where we would come to stay again. Plentiful breakfast in elegant dining room with lovely views. Very central position which was perfect for our visit.
lovely modern room, excellent buffet breakfast and friendly staff. Central location, would stay again
Central location near station. Accommodation reasonable but if you like daylight, check if your room has a proper outside window and not one facing a blank wall across a (3`0"?) narrow gap. Breakfast perfectly adequate with reasonable choice of cereals and cooked items. Lunch prices very reasonable. (Can`t comment on dinner.) Main problem was access. Porter will help with luggage but guests need to be able to climb several flights of stairs as Reception is on first floor without any lift access. Small internal lift to higher floors but corridors also contain steps.
Would highly recommend the Old Waverley. We will certainly return. We had a triple room and it was lovely and spacious. The bathroom was spotless. Towells changed daily. The visit was a pleasure.
my mum and motherinlaw stay only 1 night at the old waverly hotel and the staff and the service was exellant no negative comments at all, very central and very clean and warm rooms,we will go back.
I had business in Edinburgh on the Monday so decided to bring my wife to the city on the Sunday night for anr evening away from the kids. I wanted a hotel on Princes street so my wife could do some shopping on the Monday. Booked the Waverley, and apart from the 10 min. walk from the local NCP car park to the hotel as they dont have their own car park I would have to say that the hotel and its loaction were excelent value for money at £51/night for a double room with full breakfast (which was plentiful and delicious). I would suggest anyone staying ask for a front hotel room facing Princes street as I think rooms at the back of the hotel will not have any view. All staff were very friendly and the room was very confortable. looking as though arecent refurbishment has been done. Bed was very comfortable as well with large screen TV in the room.Super - well done the Old Waverley.
The rooms were good , clean . And everything was worth .except for the staff that wasnt friendly at all especially behind the reservation desk . The breakfast was superb with loads to offer . I wudnt mind staying again at the old waverly again .
