In addition, they were very stingy with milk, sugar, tea, biscuits etc in the room. We had to ask them once for milk
While the hotel has a great location this does not compensate for the noise levels. With the hardwood floors noise travels within the walls and ceiling to an excessive level. Also, in rooms which face Baker St the bed shakes every time a bus or large vehicle drives by - making restful sleep next to impossible.
Bathrooms with wet room and assisted seat... a silly shower position.Bedroom large and Ok. Shower/wet room a bit of a nonsense with disabled seat in the way .Thus expensive for not a great offering.
Excellent room with separate sitting area. Food extremly good and Restaurant staff very friendly and courteous. Would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to friends and family.
the hotel was excellant we had a meal in it the first night we were there and it was lovely and not to expensive. The staff were very friendly and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to my friends. I will be back to stay here again !
staff were friendly and the executive double room was very spacious, and well appointed. The bar downstairs was quite sleezy when we arrived and gave a really poor first impression of the place. Also we had booked a twin room but were given a double and weren`t able to change it. The hotel gave us complimentary breakfasts to make up for it, but it was a bad start our stay.
Very good food, staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely rooms, clean and very comfortable beds.
We liked everything about this hotel apart from the matress on the bed. The staff were polite & helpful, the food excellent and the general ambience was lovely. It was convenient for the underground and theatres. However, I would not stay there again because the matress on the bed was so uncomfortable. I complained about this when I checked out & hope that something will be done about it. We were only staying one night but could not have slept on it any longer. Other than that the executive room was spacious for London and very clean. The temperature was comfortable (neither too hot or cold) and the ensuite with shower was very good with plenty of hot water. For an hotel of this standard/rating comfort should be a priority and unfortunately one of the the most important things, the bed, spoilt it for us.
hotel isnt too bad, but not what id consider a 4 star more like a 2 star. rooms were small enough, and i really didnt like that the bathroom door were slidding doors and you could see in. shower door nearly fell off too. was a good location , right beisde the sub way and there was a tesco right next door for anything you need. eg cheap alcohol as it cost myself and my boyfriend 14 pounds for a baileys coffee, which is expensive. overall the hotel wasnt too bad but not very luxuary and not that big.
Had ordered `Executive` room - no welcome tray of fruit and drinks as promised. Had to visit desk twice to put this right. Bathroom not fully prepared, neither was tea making replenished. When welcome tray arrived, second employee arrived to top up mini bar. Not impressed.
Good breakfasts, clean rooms and very friendly, helpful staff. Very convenient location
Asked for non-smoking room, got smoking one;had to change.
Thought the cost of the breakfast at £14plus add service in addition was high so an average breakfast for 2 people cost £33 and that was in my view excessive. There was nothing wrong with the food on offer but I felt it was too much. The following day, we went out and had a breakfast for 2 at half the cost.
We really enjoyed our 1 night stay at the Sherlock Holmes hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating and made our stay very pleasant. The food in the restaurant was excellent , the room was clean and comfortable and I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only thing I would say is that it`s a quick cab ride to areas like Covent Garden, Leicester Square so don`t expect to walk out into the heart of everything. We will definitely be back.
A short walk from Baker Street tube station , I would highly recommend this hotel. Very clean , with pleasant staff. The room was above average size , with a lovely ensuite bathroom and toilet. The bed was massive and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was a perfect start to our sightseeing days - no limits to what you could eat. I will definitely be back one day!
Chose this hotel because of its location (and price) and it didn`t disappoint. We were able to get to everywhere we needed - and the handy shop next door meant that water and drinks were easy to get hold of in the hot weather. Rooms were good, clean and tidy and had everything you needed in them. Just one word of warning, make sure you go with a very close friend as the bathroom (& toilet) door is a sliding bit of semi-frosted perspex!!! All in all a lovely stay, we would recommend and would use again on a future visit to London.
Rooms a little tired-looking but adequate for an overnight stay. Lively and atmospheric bar with attentive and helpful staff. I would use the hotel again.
Lock on window was broken, room was to hot. Bed was too soft.
Overall the hotel was excellent, however my only complaint is about the facilities in the room, (we stayed in an executive double room). In the hotel information pack it informed us that there are tea and coffee facilities and a full mini bar, however there was no milk in with the tea and coffee, to which I had to ask at the main reception for and the fridge (mini Bar) was completely empty, so I couldn`t use this facilty, i wasnt informed of any problems with the mini bar facility so I would have assumed the fridge to be full.
Although the bedroom wasn`t as nice as it looked on the internt the bathroom was lovely as was therest of the hotel itself. It was very disappointing only to be able to watch films at certain times, which with todays technology is not really excusable and makes the bigger chain hotels a more attractive option.
good location.good size room , overall clean ,pleasant -bathroom plug needs fixing. welcoming reception.will return.especially if deals offer - breakfast too expensive . Better value elsewhere in vicinity.
We would stay there in the future
The communal areas were good although very dark. The room was a little tired with the furniture chipped and dented and the wooden floor marked. Was clean, however just a few things that could have been a little better considering 4 star.
Room was fine if a little small, bathroom an issue, glass sliding doors look good in the photo and add to the modern feel. However in reality they work poorly and offer no privacy.Bar and food are both overpriced, but there are many good pubs and resteraunts nearby. I would use it again.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel but would comment that the rooms on the 4th floor don`t feel very private. We could hear every footstep in the neighbouring rooms, so I can only imagine they heard us too. Superb location for a visit to London.
A welcoming hotel to come back to after a full day. Relaze , have a drink and food in the bar. Bar staff very friendly.
Piy there were no tea bags or biscuits provided with the kettle in the room!
The room was quite small, and all the items in the mini bar were out of date. we complained about this on departure and weren`t charged for any items. i found ot very high priced as we have stayed in hotels such as the hilton and paid less for bed and breakfast than we did here for room only.
