We booked hotel Des Nations off the back of generaly good reviews and found the hotel to be clean with very friendly and helpful staff, it`s well located only 15 mins walk to Notre Dame! There are plenty of shops and patisseries around for food and we never felt worried about walking around late at night. We stayed for 3 days, and the hotel location was perfect for this, Cardinal Lemoine and Place Monge metro are near by only 2 mins walk to either station (the hotel sits between both stations). Yes the hotel is a bit scruffy round the edges (chipped paint and signs of wear and tear, not something that worries myself) but sheets and towels were changed everyday air conditioning worked great, there was a tv and a kettle for tea making and the showers were always hot and powerful, I really cant fault the hotel for the money we payed.
We had a leak in our bathroom ceiling, told the staff on reception who immediately, without any problem redirected us to another room where we stayed for a further 2 nights. The. staff were helpful and efficient - booked us on to a shuttle service to the airport. Breakfast was expensive.I would recommend this hotel to others
The hotel is in a good situation for the sights and the latin quarter which offer great restaurants and entertainment. We were disappointed this year that the breakfast was not included but had it anyway. There was also tea and coffee making facililties which were new and very acceptable. This is a small hotel which is clean and comfortable and close to metro and the sights and the latin quarter.
Rooms rather small but comfortable. Willing staff and decent buffet breakfast.
Very comfortable. Room a little on the small size but all "mod cons" . Clean and quite smart; the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for a city break , which is what my husband and I did.
Hotel room was adequate.. small as you expect in Paris - but our room was opposite the escalator - 2nd floor - which was out of order for a full day - but we didn`t have any noise from the lift however - we were on the front of the hotel and the street is very very busy - visited mid week - so think it might even be noisier on a weekend. It was comfortable enough tho and breakfast was fine - included scrambled eggs bacon and sausage - be careful of the dirctions from the hotel from Gard du Nord - it said just one stop on line 7 - NO - you have to get on line 5 first at Gard du Nord to Gare du E`st and then on line 7 - easy enough though.
We have just stayed at the Des Nations on our first visit to Paris. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are very helpfull. The breakfasts are very filling and see you through the day, there are plenty of resturants nearby if you want an evening meal. We used the hotel as a centre for sightseeing and found our way to the places we wanted to see with out much trouble. We were made to feel very welcome on our arrival and departure. We would recomend the hotel to anyone who asks for somewhere to stay in Paris
Great position, good value for money and helpful staff. Room rather noisy, if one wanted the window open.
Des Nations was very warm and welcoming. They offered many things to help see the most things while in Paris. Offered a shuttle to pick us up from the hotel to take us to the airport. Worth the extra charge so I didn`t have to lug such huge luggage and souvineers through Paris and the Metro. The room was good. Small for our big bags. Outside was loud and our room was warm. Air conditioning wasn`t working well. Once the window was closed it was completely quiet, but stuffy. Breakfast was good. It was nice being walking distance from Notre Dame. I think I may come back to this hotel next time.
Great location in the Latin Quarter. Clean but small rooms, good size bathroom. V helpful reception staff - stayed for 3 nights and never saw the same person twice but all were excellent and fluent in English. Breakfast tad disappointing, hot buffet consists on hideous salty scrambled egg, v fatty bacon and strange sausages. Good value nontheless.
We both had a fabulous time in Paris. Des nations was a lovely, clean hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The size of the room was adequate for our stay. My only negative would be the air conditioning didn`t do the best job at cooling the room down. However, we did stay there in the middle of June when the temperature was around 30 C. The location was brilliant; in the latin quarter, 2 metro stations within short walking distance, and many bustling side streets nearby. Overall, it was a great place to stay.
...that it was clean & central would be its only positive aspects. However for the room size, the breakfast and staff`s attitude towards paying guests!!!....Hmmm!, we will be staying elsewhere next time!....
Perfect stay with helpful staff. Lovely clean street facing room, a little small but hey its Paris,Great breakfast and perfect position for getting around.
The only negative points were the lack of a shower curtain, and the slightly disappointing breakfast... That said, I would probably stay there again.
The hotel is in a good district, very good for small restaurants and a great atmosphere at night (just up the steps by the monument). Bus or metro is easily accessible. The staff are friendly and helpful and while the rooms are small the standard is good. A nice breakfast attended by Franco Africans. It was a great place for a short break - although we met one Japanese lady who had been coming back for about 25
This is a good hotel, with some real positives - location, cleanliness and it has friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast was a great start to the day and the hotel was lovely and warm. Just prepare yourself for a very small room - our shower cubicle was absolutely tiny! One other word of warning - Paris is sooooooo expensive, and now even more so with the weak £.
Staff very attentive and courteous, Excellent BreakfastBedroom was not totally cleaned on arrival.ideal for a short break
Hotel proved to be ideal for we four couples to enjoy the sights of Paris in four days! Friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfasts, within two hundred yards of Metro (Cardinal Lemonte). Bedroom rather small, bathroom fine and service good. Plenty of choice of restaurants and excellent area for walking and sightseeing.
Room small but clean & tidy. Good breakfast & staff very helpful.
Staff lovely and polite. Rooms very clean.
staff very nice and helpfull hotels facilities that were in your web page were not there the deep leather sofas were not there and the open fireplace was electric fire , and no guest bar .hotel was clean but shabby could do with a facelift
We stayed for 4 days here less than a week ago and found it to be a lovely little hotel. The room size was perfectly fine and the room itself nice and clean. The bathroom was much bigger than anticipated and again clean and white tiled. Great breakfast of scrambled eggs/bacon plus all the usual continental jazz. The location of the hotel is fantastic - within walking distance to most of the places of interest in the latin quarter. We had a Paris Visite pass for the Metro but hardly used it! We did have a couple of ventures to the opposite end of Paris on the Metro and Place Monge Metro station is literally a few minutes walk away so ideal if you plan to visit other areas. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful too - we really couldn`t fault it! Would definately stay there again and recommend to our pals!
I booked this hotel online and considered the room rate of less than £100 per night being reasonable considering its location within a more expensive part of Paris. Like many of the hotels in that area, it did suffer from very small rooms. The ensuite shower/WC is barely bigger than a phone box and the shower cubicle is so small you end up pushing the tap and either changing the temperature or switching the shower off inadvertently if you turn your body or lift up your arms! That said, it was adequate, if you don`t intend to spend any length of time in the room. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast includes cooked and continental versions. I have been in better accommodation and paid less, though perhaps not in Paris latin quarter!
First impressions were slightly disappointing - the bedroom was compact (nothing surprising there though in Paris). There was nothing to write home about in the communal rooms either. However - bathroom was large and new, considering the usual dimensions for Parisian hotels, the shower was good and there were plenty of toiletries rather than the usual token bar of soap. The gentleman at reception was very helpful as well. After a good night`s sleep, a hot shower, a plentiful breakfast and pleasant staff, the hotel absolutely grows on you. Furthermore the area is fine (not seedy late at night), the Rue Moufftard with its bars, restaurants, cafes and stalls is just 10 min walk, as is the Blvd St Germain. Notre Dame is also within walking distance. Overall we would recommend this for a pleasant and convenient stay.
The rooms were small for a longer stay but the bathroom was well equipped with bath, refreshing after a day out. Good choice at breakfast and plenty of cafes near.Description on web accurate.
Good position, just 10 minutes walk from Notre Dame. The rooms are extremely small, with just enough space to walk around the bed. If all you want is a bed to sleep in and breakfast in the morning then it`s fine, but it`s not a place to hang around in.
