Stayed at the hotel 3 nights, very modern tidy rooms. In the bastille area close to subway, 10 minute train jouney into main area, Eiffal tower notre dame ETC. would stay again.

Service at breakfast is very bad and could do with a manager around. It all will need a re-paint and new fabrics on furniture soon as it stars to look a bit scuffed.

Apparently there had been a `problem` and there were no rooms left at 6pm, despite having paid up front through this website. Very nonchalant about it and could offer only a room in their sister hotel out at Bercy. Did pay for 4 cabs to and from Bercy as we had pre booked a restaurant very near to the General.Made up for it the next day by giving us one of their suites (rack rate 300 euros plus).Finally a room in Paris with room to swing a cat.

A great place to stay to explore Paris. Great places to eat and shop close by. Every city should have a hotel like this!

Some less positive aspects included the fact that the walls are rather thin and there was a lot of noise and disturbance from the adjacent room. I was booked onto a smoking floor which I did not request and found very unpleasant.

Major plus points included the lovely breakfast (particularly the vitamin bar and marshmallows!), sauna, helpful staff, location, beautiful bathrooms, green tea is absolutely to die for.The only drawbacks are that the rooms are quite small and if you were staying for a while it would be quite annoying as there is not much storage space for your clothes (just a single wardrobe). Still if you are only there for a weekend this is perfect.

The room was disapointing , there was no storage apart from the wardrobe, lived out of a suitcase for 3 days, the coffee cups were thin plastic.Decor in hotel good, breakfast fab but room very basic and need of a lick of paint. The bed was a very small double and air conditioning unit not working properly, luckily this was just a base

Breakfast ,always very litle cooked food left and went around 10am both mornings .Slow to clear other tables who had finished breakfast . However did not detract from things

Wonderfully stylish and attention to detail is fantastic. friendly staff, good breakfast. If you like a contemporary hotel this is a good choice as it is modern but also cosy. Good value for money! Good location for resturants and metro. The only negative would be that the rooms are quite small but that won`t be putting me off another visit !

Beuatifully decorated although our rom was compact! Best breakfast I`ve had in France - plenty of choice and v fresh. Location if you re arriving on Eurostart couldn`t be better and easy walking distance to all shops bas and restaurants.

The hotel is well located for the Metro and it is in a quiet side road. The reception is fresh, modern and clean. The bar area is attractive and doubles as the breakfast room. The bedroom was very small and has limited storage/ cupboard space, (we asked for a bigger room but we were told the hotel was full.) The shower room was of a high standard but the shower unit lacked a shelf for soap/gel. The `continental` type buffet breakfast had a good spread (the bread, coffee and orange juice were excellent ) however, the `cooked` section choice was disappiontingly limited to bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs , We enjoyed the piped jazz/latin music at breakfast but noticed the same songs every day.

Staff friendly and helpful, place clean everywhwre, nice touches like duck and sweets! Variety of options for breakfast and handily placed for metro to places or 20-25 min walk to river.

We loved our stay in Paris and it was made all the better because of this hotel. Yes the rooms are on the small side but so well designed that it didn`t matter. The bathroom was gorgeous and the beds were really comfy. Breakfast was my favorite bit though. Just so much to choose from and all just really nicely presented. Staff were great and friendly. I would definately go back and would recommend this hotel to my friends, in fact I have already.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, the room was quiet and peaceful even though it is in Central Paris. The room was small but we were of course out and about all day so it didin`ts`t matter. Bathroom lovely, we loved the silver ducks and the apples n the pillow. Breakfast was good and the decor is lovely. We will definitely stay again.

How nice to come across a hotel that really tries to offer a service. From the duck in the bedroom to the vitamin bar at breakfast to the decor.

Would have rated this hotel as excellent except the service was a bit haphazard. The maids always forgot something either to replenish coffee etc or short a towel. Was not really a problem as when you rang reception it got sorted. Rooms small but nice and quiet and spotless. Would recommend it and would stay here again

Very relaxing, especially optional time for breakfast until 11 am! Good quality and good choice for breakfast as well. Sauna and gym a bonus.

We stayed in the hotel at the end of April 2008. Location- very convenient but the room was extremely small and after having another bed for our child there, it was almost no space for anything else [including our luggage]. We were over the moon when got down for our first breakfast in the hotel, the reality kicked in the next morning when we had to wait 20 min to get a table and then another 30min to have our table cleared and set for us! Be the first one for breakfast [delicious indeed] or be prepared to wait a long time. We`ve stayed in quite few 4 star hotels but this was defenitelly not the best one!

we found this hotel through the internet without any prior recommendation. liked the central location. was very pleasant surprised by the modern lounge-feel of the lobby. liked the room, but was a little too small for a couple with a baby. the baby-cot fit barely into the room. the bathroom was great. nice modern tiles and fixtures. great water-pressure. the service was very friendly and helpful, but felt a little overwhelmed at check-in. i would definitely stay here again.

Fresh, clean and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good, including the health pills - very innovative. We both really loved all the little touches which set Le General aside from the rest of the pack. It`s only 3 mins walk from the Metro. Highly recommend this fab hotel!!!!!

i thought the hotel was quite good, i would say that there were a few areas that could benefit from a little tidying up. eg. knocks and scuffs on walls/light not working which just let it down a tiny bit.Having said that ,the local area is ok with good breakfast (which can get crowded at busy times) and some nice little touches(we loved the ducks) and the staff were all pleasent and helpful.I would definately recommend this hotel.

We were very impressed with the hotel. Situated in a quiet street just off the Place de la Republique, the staff were friendly and the rooms very comfortable. I would have no hesitation in recommendng this hotel.

Excellent reception experience. Friendly and efficient staff. Cool decor. Nice breakfast. Our room was well appointed and very clean, although quite small and the rather high sided bath might be a problem for some.

My fiancee and i stayed here in January for three nights. It was our first time in Paris. The hotel itself is about a 45min ride on the RER form CDG airport, changing at Gard Du nord to travel to republic metro station. The hotel is the a 5min walk from there. The rooms were very modern and the staff couldn`t be more helpful. Good facilities and the usual continental style breakfast. Would definitely recommend this hotel for short and long stays or for business trips because of the close transport links. P.s make sure to try and speak French. No matter how bad your French is the locals will be more helpful if you just try!

Le General is ja trendy boutique hotel. It is extremely clean, great design and friendly helpful staff. The prices are very reasonable for the room and whilst they are not huge they are a good size with a fab bathroom. Breakfast is fantastic - self service but with a great choice including fruit, eggs, cheese and even a mix of vitamin pills. The staff are mor ethan happy to help with anything and the bar is open until 2am. I would recommend this hotel to anyone

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Hotel, great links for Metro and in lovley surrounding area of Paris. We would definately recommend to others to stay here.

We both really enjoyed the stay, the rooms were excelently decorated, warm and we really loved the bathroom. The staff were very helpfull. BUT, we were dissapointed with breakfast. It would appear there was only one member of staff and she was doing a sterling job but clearly over whelmed with the number of guests breakfasting. We had to wait some time before getting clean cups at our table and again for some pastries, and when that came we had only a small amount of them, there wasn`t any orange juice and no hot water for tea. I am not complaining about the member of staff, far from it, she was very helpfull and kept smiling when im sure she wanted to cry!!! but all in all i did enjoy my stay.

What an amazing hotel, the hotel`s own website does it perfect justice. Gorgeous decor, fabulous staff, sweets in the bar, L`Occitane goodies in the bathroom, super sauna. Location was good too, Republique has 5 metro lines running through it. From Charles de Gaulle, take the RER train to Gare du Nord, then Metro to Republique, less than 5 minute walk to the hotel from there.We loved this hotel, chic, fabulous, pink and rubber ducks - perfect!

gorgeous hotel although room 22 is very noisy! must be near a water tank as it goes all night so not for the lightsleeper! however didnt complain as the hotel is lovely every detail superb yes rooms are small but they are perfectly formed! great location for metro would recommend every time. was nice to read hotel recommended in times newspaper whilst on ferry home!!

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and wished it could have been for longer. We have already recommended this hotel to family and friends and cant wait to hopefully return soon! Lovely room (surprisingly large), friendly staff, great breakfast, fantastic location (good Metro link and loads of local restaurants). The only quibble - shame about the smoke, I guess we are already used to a smoke free UK!

This was a great find, reasonably priced, with a fantastic attention to detail. The rooms aren`t huge, but are neutrally decorated with decent en suites. Staff mainly very friendly and helpful. Bar is a cool place for a quick kir royale on your way out, or some late night beer and sweets!One word of advice - check whether breakfast is included in your price before you tuck in, as it can be a nasty shock when presented with the bill! W.ould definitely stay here again.
