"Little Gem"

On arriving from Manchester for our first stay in Dublin, this hotel is in a great location, the decor and greeting we were met with were great. The room has tea and coffee facilties, and you can reuest a smoking/non smoking room, check out on the weekend, sunday is 11.30 am which proved useful after a night on the town. Check in was speedy and the room was clean and the quilts on the bed luxurious. Will definately be going back.

"Value For Money Accommodation"

Reception - up one floor so not easy for elderly visitors.Concierge/front of house - should offer his hotel welcome to all visitors and not just the pretty young females.Reception Staff - efficient, polite and courteous.Accomodation - spacious, comfortable and very well serviced.Management response to complaint - effective, efficient and laced with very good customer care skills.Facilities - resident`s lounge, good, - restaurant, poorly staffed and - bar, open to the general public with no residents only option.Proximity to City centre and public transport - excellent.

"Unhelpful at front desk "

I was pleased with the room-it was clean and very nice. However the reception staff were extremely unhelpful and uncooperative when we discovered the reservation was wrong and the parking was a nightmare! One hour to get parked!

"Hotel lovely but bar not that great"

We stayed at the North Star for 4 days and had a lovely time. The restaurant in the hotel is lovely but the bar attached to the hotel is very grubby and dated. It is very much for locals. The difference between the hotel and the bar is like chalk and cheese. Could be much better. The hotel is situated not far from the centre of Dublin and is easy to get to by tram/bus etc. The rooms were very clean and the staff very nice.

"Great Hotel "

Only stayed for one night but rooms were clean and tidy and the bar was cool. This hotel has got some shocking reviews on Trip advisor lately but I thought it was absolutely fine. It is a bit of a stretch to say it is within walking distance of "where the action is" but the trams run from just outside and there is a shuttle bus to the airport. Staff were all friendly too.

"Cheap, convienient , friendly and comfortable"

We got rooms at a great price, we were not expecting too much due to the affordable price but were hugeley surprised and happy. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well supplied with trouser press, tea and coffee facilities, toiletries, hairdryer and an iron on request. Reception staff were helpful and friendly and someone always available if we had questions. Breakfast was nice and plentiful, just what you need to start a day in Dublin. As for Ciaran the concierage gentleman, he was very helpful and a wonderful personality, thank you.

"North Star.. central but noisey hotel"

This hotel was clean and very central. However the walls are like paper so you can hear everything above, below and next door to the room. We were unlucky to have noisey people staying above us and the (night-time) reception were not very helpful. It is also located next to a station so early morning noise is also considerable.

car park arrangements werent the best - very small and costly 13 euro for one night.room and general hotel were ok. the room could be doing with a redo but generally alright. breakfast was 10euro each and was top class.nice stay for one night.

"GOOD LOCATION NEAR SHOPS 5-10 MINUTES WALK,STAFF ARE FRIENDLY. "

THE HOTEL IS BASIC NEEDS REFURBISH, RECEPTION WAS IN THE 2ND FLOOR NO LIFT YOU WILL CARRY YOUR LUGGAGE GOING TO RECEPTION WHICH IS NOT GOOD FOR ELDERLY AND DISABLED. HOTEL CHARGE 3 EURO IF YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR LUGGAGE TO THEM FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS.PARKING SPACE NOT ENOUGH FOR HOTEL GUEST. HOTEL IS NOT ADVISABLE FOR YOUNG COUPLES AND HONEYMOONERS. EVEN THOUGH THE HOTEL IS OLD IT IS CLEAN AND MAINTAINED.

"Good place to rest your head very close to the train station"

Stayed there for its proximity to temple bar etc, about 10 mins drunken walk. It was vey clean and tidy. the only thing to watch out for is the proximity to the train line. The reception desk is in a vaulted hall between the santions of the viaduct above!

"Staff listening to Customers and 3 euro charge to leave a bag for 2 hours "

The Hotel is pleasant enough but one of our parties spectacles went missing and I felt the response from the staff was very poor and not in the least helpful to the situation. Also we enquired if we could leave our travel cases and were told that it was a 3euro charge per bag quite excessive for 2 hours and with 5 people in our party quite expensive

"Did not particularly like the area where the hotel was situated. "

The hotel had been recently refurbished and was nicely decorated. Room was very basic, can`t comment on food as we did not eat there, only because we were running the Marathon and there was no point. The room we were in was next to the heating system which made the corridor very warm, the noise emanating from it was horrendous, however when asked the staff did turn it off. To sum up this hotel, it is ok for a short stay but I would much prefer to be nearer the city centre.
