The hotel was perfect for what we wanted. Rooms were clean with fresh towels each day. Pool was great for kids and only £1.50. There is a little cafe across the road that does a good breakfast cheap if you don`t want to pay hotel prices
We had a problem with the booking. We were allocated smoking bedrooms and as non-smokers we did not request this option nor were we asked our preference at the time of booking. We did request a double and a family room but were given two doubles. Reception sorted the problems promptly with no fuss. Despite this we would use the hotel again probably for a longer stay. The only other comment was regarding the swimmimg pool which did not open until approx. 9.30 by which time it was too late to use for us to this useful facility.
Extractor broken so bathroom stank, not enough towels, sink blocked and flooded, staff not concerned. Save your money and go to travelodge across the road
Stayed in hotel before, staff friendly and helpful, easy access to Kings Cross Station, ideal for family, quiet away from main traffic. Overall a good hotel to stay in London
We didn`t realise that the swimming pool etc had to be paid for as extras. The sofa bed was not really ideal for 2 older children or adults for that matter. The room tea, coffee etc didn`t cater for 4 people. It took 4 hours and 3 chases to get an extra cup but no extra teabags despite asking for them. We didn`t chase any more as we were too tired and gave up. Bed pillows were very hard.On the good side the desk, consierge and cleaning staff were excellent.
This hotel was very clean, staff hospitable, breakfast lovely. Only gripe was that it was a bit further from King`s Cross than we thought but not too far to walk even with 2 children and bags! Would definitely go back.
Stayed here for 2 nights in a family room, great base 10 min walk to tube station, and 20 min walk to euston station, or 10 min walk to kings cross.Room fine all clean no problems with anything so i would definately stay here again.
The room was clean as you would expect. The family room had a pull out bed settee which we didnt mind, but was dressed with a sheet and a very unattractive woollen blanket. This made the room aesthetically unappealing - just would have liked the room to have looked like £150 per night - that`s Northerners for you!!
Having stayed at this hotel a week earlier and experienced problems with TV I was very disappointed to find same problem again, despite asking for this to be addressed several times, without result. After a very long day`s travel from siuth Germany, we aimed to relax after a meal and watch a film that evening. Eventually after repeated complaints and in the face of dis-belief from staff that there could be a problem someone did come to the room - and confirmed the TV was seriously faulty - but explained that nothing could be done until the following day (too late for us). Also we had to sort out the room furniture, which had been left in unsuitable state.
Hotel is about a one kilometre walk to Kings Cross or Russell Square stations. Reception and concierge staff were disinterested, gave us no greeting, were disorganised and failed to pass on messages. The room itself was comfortable, airconditioned and clean - housekeeping staff were excellent. Lifts were painfully slow. Internet was ridiculously expensive (the internet cafe across the street is a far better alternative). Queues for breakfast were extremely long and breakfast was not worth the wait. Dining options across the street offered far better options for dinner at a more reasonable price.
We pre-booked and paid for a non-smoking family room for the night of Saturday 10 July 2010. As we were travelling from France and knew that we would be late (arrival ~10pm), we telephoned from France during the day to confirm that we were on our way. On arrival we were advised that the hotel was overbooked and we had to take what was left ie a smoking room. The receptionist offered to check the availability of non-smoking rooms in other hotels. As we had been travelling all day, this was not a realistic option. None of our party are smokers and we found the room very unpleasant. This disturbed the night`s sleep of our party. We consider that this was not acceptable and would seriously hesitate before booking with you again.
Would stay again ,lovely clean room, quiet area
We had a very nice stay, the only drawback of the whole stay was the inflexiblity of the breakfast staff, who wouldn`t let me use a tray, snatching the one I was using out of my hands!
Overall we were pleased with the hotel but disappointed with the location. The distance to the tube stations was further than anticipated. On the plus side the location was quiet and we had undisturbed sleep.
We enjoyed a 1 night stay. The room was great, the bed comfortable, bathroom modern and clean. Breakfast was continental with cereal, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, toast, hot drinks and fruit juice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good location with easy access to both Russell Square and Kings Cross tube stations. 15 minute walk down to Covent Garden. Great hotel at a good price.
From the minute we arrived to the minute we left this hotel, we were dealt with by friendly and helpful staff. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to an executive room at no extra charge. Only disappointment is that the use of the pool isn`t included. This is brand new and tasteful but it cost us £10 for a family of 4 to use each time. Plus children can only swim between 8.30am and 6.30pm! Will definitely recommend this hotel though. Parking on site.
Family rooms have a roll out sofa bed which was very uncomfortable! When out in the bed position you can hardly walk round the room. Staff were on autopilot when checking in customers and not actually hearing what some people were saying. Not what I would expect from a four star hotel, especially as they chatge four star room rates!! The hotel was very clean and well presented. Overall, not a hotel that I would rush back to.
Good overall break, a nice side of London to stay. Russell Sq and the Britsh Museum was well worth the visit in themselves and also close to Covent Garden.
No mention made of charge for using pool!
Good hotel, not the best location for the theatres etc but clean comfortable room, air conditioned which was good the weekend we were there but far too full of foreign tourists.Bar was sensible prices and ok for a Hotel Bar.Continental breakfast so so, croisants were fresh the day previous. Segregation of the breakfast for english/continental is a bit in your face. Why the corridors are full of housekeeping trollies at 10 am on Sunday is a bit beyond me, if I was paying the full rack rate, I would be a bit hacked off with that. And why they charge extra for the swimming pool and gym is one for the management to decide, I think that policy is ridicoulous!
3 of us stayed, plenty of room, clean and tidy, but no real caracter.
Very clean and comfortable with modern rooms and good service.
For the price it was good, however I thought the breakfast was overpriced £13.95 per adult and £6.95 per child. Also our room was next door to the housekeeping stock cupboard, what a noise from early in the morning, not very pleasant!
my partner and i took our 7 year old boy away to london for the bank holiday weekend and found staying at the kings cross holiday inn very easy as close to kings cross station, the hotel was very clean and tidy and would recommend the hotel to othersthe hotel has a pool and a gym but we were unable to use these as very little time but they did look very nice and would use this hotel again
No complaints about the Holiday Inn Kings Cross. Bedroom comfortable and nicely decorated. Continental breakfast was standard. Quiet area where we felt comfortable walking from the underground.
Nice hotel. Good size bedrooms and decent facilities - easy access from Kings Cross (apporx. 15 min walk). Only issue was being told by the receptionist that the room rate included continental breakfast when checking in - only to find the following morning on trying to enter the dining area that the rate didn`t include breakfast! This was inconvenient when travelling with three children, but no big deal. There are many bars / cafes in the area who serve all day breakfast for around £5. We visited one on Grays Inn Road (back towards Kings Cross) called Maderia - it was first rate; great food, great service and excellent value for money.
we check out at 9.45am we go for breakfast and i realise my bracelet is missing off my wrist so we return to hotel to see if we can collect from room when we get up to the room less than 1 hour later room has been changend and no bracelet was found it was not packed away in our suitcase as we checked it it is not that the bracelet is worth a lot of money it is more sentemental value as it was bought for a 50th birthday present
Whilst there we did have a problem with the towels! After being out all day on Sunday 25th May we returned at 10:30pm to discover the room had been cleaned but NO towels left!! We all wanted to shower so we telephoned reception to explain we had no towels, who said they would send dome straight up!! By11.00pm still no towels, I telephoned again and a gentleman apologised and said he would have them sent straight up (he already knew the room number so was aware we were waiting). Midnight came, which is when we gave up! We had a shower and had to use the bathrobe to dry ourselves!!! My daughter who is 13 was asleep by this time and was unable to have a shower, although we had been out in 75degrees all day! I was very cross and disappointed in the service and it did tarnish the stay slightly! I got some towels myself the following morning from the chamber maid in the corridor.
Excellant hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We had a family room with the 2nd bed being a pullout sofabed. This did take up alot of room but you were still able to move around. The room was clean and tidy. The only issue was breakfast on Sunday morning. We had to queue for over 20 minutes to get a table but the staff were working as fast as possible to clear tables and get you seated.
everything as it should be; the room was perfect
family room, was plenty good enough for a couple and two young children. clean, and relativley modern hotel
The family room had 2 good size double beds. The pool had to pay to use but was a reasonable size with a steam room and sauna. Unfortunately the jacuzzi was out of action on the day we used the facilities. The location of the hotel was good for getting to and from Covent garden and theatres. Breakfast was a little disappointing but adequate. The toast was cold and we had to ask for some fresh. Overall an enjoyable visit.
